AllianceBio (A‑BIO) is seeking a high‑impact process engineering leader to drive strategy and execution for cutting-edge biopharma projects. This role is ideal for a technical leader with expertise across multiple aspects of process engineering including automation, facility and equipment design, facility fit and tech transfer, sustainability, reliability, utilities, and equipment lifecycle management.
Preferred residence near A‑BIO client hubs (NC, PA/NJ, MD). Significant on-site leadership expected (50–80%). Travel 20–25%.
You will lead process engineers with cross-functional skill sets in multiple aspects of process engineering. This role will collaborate across project management, CQV, and operations teams. You will be responsible for leadership with clients and within A-BIO of process engineering strategy and deliverables.
• Serve as a seller-doer (~80–85% billability) who scopes, wins, and delivers complex engineering work.
• Lead a team of process engineers to execute all aspects of A-BIO’s process engineering service offering.
• Develop and direct capital project execution strategy from a technical perspective covering all engineering disciplines.
• Develop new process engineering service offerings with tools and templates tailored to emerging industry trends and client needs.
• Guide the development of facility and equipment design including P&IDs, material balances, and facility and system architecture.
• Lead development of automation execution strategy.
• Lead facility fit and tech transfer planning incorporating process design and process simulation.
• Direct equipment and instrument specification to meet process requirements
• Direct facility layout development for scalable GMP operations.
• Drive predictive maintenance and reliability engineering principles into project execution and ongoing operations.
• Support asset life cycle planning and long-term system sustainability strategies.
• Provide subject matter leadership in HVAC and utilities systems (clean/black), particularly in high-complexity environments focused on implementing sustainability initiatives.
• Lead system and facility startup efforts and support CQV and shutdown management.
•Coach engineers in both technical execution and client-facing project leadership.Build A-BIO’s internal capability through tool development, process documentation, and team mentorship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or equivalent.
• 10–20+ years of biopharma experience in process engineering and manufacturing.
• Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary technical teams across the project lifecycle.
• Expertise in facility and equipment design
• Proven ability to deliver technical and strategic value in a client-focused consulting setting.
• U.S. work authorization and ability to travel 20–25%.
• Experience with sustainability, reliability, and predictive maintenance in regulated environments.
• Familiarity with digital systems, risk registers, and lifecycle documentation for asset management.
• Involvement in industry networks (ISPE, BioPhorum) or contribution to regulatory or technical guidance.
