The Process Development Team identifies and develops optimal, cost effective, and reliable production processes, as well as offering comprehensive support for seamless transitions and scale up from 2L to 500L.

Production of pre-clincial toxicology material is also carried out in this department at up to 500L scale.

The Process Development Team consists of 4 groups, namely:

Cell Line Development

• Transfection
• Evaluation of candidate cell lines, specialising in CHO, NS0 and hybridoma

Cell Culture & Bioreactor

• Media optimisation and adaptation to serum-free media
• Scale-up of cell culture process from 2L to 500L in bioreactor
• Development and optimisation of batch and fed-batch processes

Purification

• Membrane selection for concentration and clarification processes
• Purification process optimisation (Affinity, IEX, gel filtration, HI chromatography)

Assay Development

• Characterisation of products
• Analytical method development
• Qualification of analytical methods
